"Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog. Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) are part of a wider network of social media.

To make it simple, blog is what you call your own web space where you could post, edit, omit, and upload more than pictures. Anything and everything, may or may not contain, your daily journal, favorite stuffs, stories and almost all the topics you fancy. It’s your own world following your own mood, it doesn’t have to be fancy, really witty or cute nor does it have to be real. It only has to be you…
Give it a shot.

Your own spot
You don’t have to be a techie or an internet addictus (addict) to survive your own blog because blog sites (like blogspot, blogger, livejournal and wordpress) offers step-by-step easy-to-follow instructions (don’t bother with HTML), even Friendster.com and Multiply.com has its own blog space attached to your account. Once you realize it, you’ll see that you have ample space to write and post your thoughts and actually enjoy doing it.

If you feel like you have to many ideas lock up in your neurons, you need space, you have opinions and grievances you have to air out before you get insane, and you need to get these all out of your system then blogging is made for you.

No mean feat
To other people, blogging seems to be a complete waste of time and money and the risk of over exposure to computer radiation that is fabled to cause cancer. It requires cumbersome notes, extensive research, a stack of words, mine of ideas, knack for conversations-that-could-grew-to something-worst and enduring an endless tirade of readers commenting, suggesting that you could be mentally subnormal and telling you your blog sucks most of the time.

But other still continue.

Enduring all the above mentions and maybe a thousand nameless more, quite unimaginable for something soooo silly. A mere scream for attention. A leeway for personal frustrations.

But still others continue…

“the end justifies the means”
It serves as an alternative world away from everything else, a space where you could be yourself. Anyone who wants to be somebody else, the main character, the spot light, the center of discussion, the ultimate being, the “it”. People read you. People listen to you. People knew you exist. And for once, it’s about YOU. See?! Enough for anyone to sit in front of their computer rights now and start blogging till wee hours.

But still, isn’t it pathetic?!

In today’s world that boast all things technical from life to death and everything in between is just a click away and miracles are produced everyday, man has to resort himself into creating his own domain. We have the best of both worlds but still…

For me, blogging is the ultimate space for me in this polluted world. There I could post all the things I want to say, blame anyone and everyone and they can’t answer back. Discuss things I don’t usually talk about in a language I’m comfortable with.

But hey, who am I style=";font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:85%;" >Creating your own world is no mean feat.

As you read this: I’m beginning to lose words in which to continue this tirade, to doubt my reason as to why I’m bothering to write these things, in one way or another or maybe not, other people knew. Maybe this is my way of unleashing my innermost thoughts that are veiled by fear, insecurity and grief. I’m totally devoid of myself.
Before I start, let me get this straight, opening, or rather exposing, myself would never be easy for me. It makes me feel vulnerable.
Then you might be wondering why I still decided to continue. This is it: I’m breaking my iceberg.
The first question that would come to you is WHY?
I don’t know for sure but it makes me feel good and a little lighter. Maybe it’s just because I have too many things inside me that I should have thrown out long ago but couldn’t, out of fear that I may need it again someday…
Hay, I’m talking gibberish again. I always goof around sometimes at my own expense. I was told not long ago that the primary reason why I’m misunderstood is that I’m different. When I ask, “In what way exactly?!” the only answer I get are “I don’t know” and “I can’t tell exactly”. C’mon, you can tell I’m different but can’t present an answer why you thought so, what line of reasoning is that? Human instinct? Hunches? Vibrations at work? Or maybe you can’t tell but need to get me off you. People, I don’t bite.
Now ending this discussion before it gets out of hand (it is only allowed to happen when I’m drunk), I want this clear: I’m ME, ok?! Maybe I’m really different from all creation but that doesn’t mean I’m excluded from the world. I cry. I sleep. I fart. I eat. See?! Like you and everybody else.

Because Your You

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5154138512627327682" style="DISPLAY: block; are a Far East concept. Those familiar with Chinese acupuncture, meridians and nadi's, will have a good feel for what they are. To put chakras into a basic understanding, there are seven of them (what we call major chakras). You can consider them like a power station of sorts. They pull in "prana" (energy/food) from the surrounding universe, suck it in, transform it, and then "feed" not only our physical body to keep us healthy, but also feed our aura, which is composed of many fields.

The chakras are deposited in our ethereal body, the auric field that is closest to our physical body. They then extend out like the cone of an ice cream cone, through the front and back of us. The chakras on the front of us are fueled by desire. The one's in the back are our will. The major chakras are positioned over major endocrine glands in our body. They are also the gateway to our spiritual roots and universal mind.
Each chakra has a symbolic area that it rules. Through stimulation, the opening and closing of this chakra, it draws in the energy to help us learn the lesson(s) we want to educate ourselves about this lifetime.
I'd like to introduce the chakras.

1st Chakra (Root): RED

Organs: physical body support; base of spine; legs, bones, feet, rectum, and the immune system.

Mental/Emotional Issues: Safety and security; ability to provide for life's necessities; ability to stand up for one-self; feeling at home (here on earth), and emotional support. Grounds a person; keeps them common sensed. Practical. Logical. Rational. If this chakra is damaged, the person is spacy, out-of-the-body, undisciplined, disorganized and unable to finish what they start.

Physical Dysfunctions: Chronic lower back pain, sciatica, varicose veins, rectal tumors/cancer, depression, and immune disorders.

Gemstone: Red Jasper

2nd Chakra (Navel/Spleen): ORANGE

Organs: Sexual organs, large intestine, lower vertebrae (lumbar/coccyx), pelvis, appendix, bladder, and hip area.

Mental/Emotional Issues: blame and guilt, money and sex, power and control, creativity, ethics and honor in relationships. (if possible), have no chips/fractures, and are not irradiated (to enhance color). I recommend using rounded stones for gemstone therapy.

The therapeutic properties of the gemstones listed here are for rounded, highest quality gemstones. Non-rounded stones may have different effects. All of the links below will take you to a merchant for the gemstones, or you can look at our ebay store.

Amazonite: Improves self worth. I find that I have more confidence when I wear this stone.
Amber: Lift heaviness. Amber is great at lifting the heaviness of burdens -- allowing happiness to come through.
Amethyst: Spiritual Upliftment. This is also the present carrier of the purple color ray. I wear a short necklace of this when I need to communicate effectively. I place this on my stomach/liver when I have stomach problems.
Apatite: Communication. I wear this stone when there has been a misunderstanding. It is also helpful for fighting viruses.
Aquamarine: Remind one of the ocean of love and mercy. It can help one understand difficult situations from a love-filled viewpoint. I either wear an aquamarine stone or gaze into an aquamarine crystal. I recommend aquamarine or rose quartz for those who are experiencing a lot of grief.
Aventurine: Circulation. I get very happy when I wear this stone. I also use this to help clear my congestion.
Green Aventurine: Physical healing. I either place this around my neck or on the area where healing is needed. This is the stone I would choose for overall healing support. For major illnesses, I would use emerald and/or frosted quartz as well. Transparent Aventurine is extremely powerful - however, it needs washing daily (dry flat). Immature transparent aventurine will fade.
Cape Amethyst: Inner alignment. This seems to balance the inner bodies (emotional, spiritual, etc.) as well as provide more energy. I use a very small sphere (4-6mm) on acupressure points for 1-5 minutes to clear energy blockages. For larger spheres (8mm), use less than a minute. Also good for arthritis - wrap strands of cape amethyst around aching joint.
Carnelian: Balance creativity and mental processes. When my husband was wheezing from allergies, I placed this on him. He stopped wheezing within 30 seconds. When I removed it, he started wheezing again. This worked best with natural carnelian (bright orange). However, clear man-made carnelian worked on him as well. Wash carnelian under water after wearing it. Carnelian is the carrier of the orange ray.
Chrysoprase: Spiritual protection. This stone allows me to work through issues without outside influences. Great when starting in management or working with large groups of people.
Citrine: Upliftment. I wear this to help align my spine. I either place a strand along my spine or wear it around my neck. Citrine encourages the yellow ray to support the body. This stone also helps one process energy work.
Coral: Emotional Foundation. Coral protects and strengthens one's emotional foundation.
Diamond: Increase personal clarity. I find this aligns me with my higher purpose as well as offers many healing properties. I have had profound results with diamond therapy. (Some diamond therapists are listed under gemstone therapists.)
Emerald: Physical and emotional healing. This is the strongest physical healing gemstone that I know. I use it by placing it on the area which needs healing or wearing it around my neck. Emerald is the carrier of the green ray.
Green Fluorite: Hormone Balance. This stone has been helpful with hormonal changes such as PMS and menopause.
Purple Rainbow Fluorite: Change. Helps one get out of ruts.
Jade: Relaxation. Jade works wonders for my husband when placed on a sore shoulder or back. I have used it to reduce tension in my life. I find that I am calmer when I wear jade.
Kunzite: Emotional Support. I use this stone to help my mind and my emotions be in sync.
Lapis: Understand the mind. Expanding your viewpoint. It is good for connecting the heart and the mind when worn over the heart.
Leopardskin Jasper: Bring what one needs. Note that it doesn't necessarily bring in what you want. However, it is a wonderfully supporting stone.
Mahogany Obsidian: Decision making. It has been helpful in healing my gums as well.
Malachite: Bring harmony into one's life. I have done many meditations with malachite to gather knowledge on gemstones and on myself.
Moldavite: Grounding stone. Really puts one in their body. This is extremely strong -- you may wish to try black onyx for grounding first. It is rumored that it helps you talk to other sentient beings (humans and whales and dolphins). I haven't tried this.
Grey Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's powers by cleansing blocks. This can be hard to wear.
Orange Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's help by comforting you. This is less powerful than white - but helpful when one really needs a certain stone.
White Moonstone: Helps one accept other stone's help through highlighting the others effects. When worn by itself is balances yin/yang.
Moss Agate: Get in touch with nature. I gaze into it for a very short time (1-5 minutes) each day for 3 days when I need insight into a problem. I use black obsidian when I have been unable to understand what aquamarine has been trying to show me. This is a very strong stone. I use it sparingly.
Black Onyx: Helps one to change bad habits. This is great when used in a necklace. I have found it helps people notice their chakras when placed on each chakra. (This can be done one chakra at a time.) It is a great grounding stone.
Mexican Onyx: Helps one sleep better. For more details, see my Sleeping Better therapies.
Black Opal: See self as Soul. I find this stone is great for helping one see the possibilities of how one can be all they can be. This stone seems to strengthen bones too.
Opal: See possibilities; discover a broader view. I use opal to see all the possibilities in a situation. I find it very freeing when I feel blocked in a situation. Some people find this stone very hard to wear. I find it wonderful. A little opal can go a long way.
Fresh Water Pearl: Enable one to accept love. See the good parts of oneself so you can love yourself and others more.
Peridot: Brings the energies from in the aura to the physical body. A few nights later he asks her out to dinner, and again they enjoy themselves. They continue to see each other regularly, and after awhile neither one of them is seeing anybody else. And then, one evening when they're driving home, a thought occurs to Martha, and, without really thinking, she says it aloud:

"Do you realize that, as of tonight, we've been seeing each other for exactly six months?"

And then, there is silence in the car.

To Martha, it seems like a very loud silence. She thinks to herself: I wonder if it bothers him that I said that. Maybe he's been feeling confined by our relationship; maybe he thinks I'm trying to push him into some kind of obligation that he doesn't want, or isn't sure of.

And Fred is thinking: Gosh. Six months. And Martha is thinking: But, hey, I'm not so sure I want this kind of relationship either. Sometimes I wish I had a little more space, so I'd have time to think about whether I really want us to keep going the way we are, moving steadily towards, I mean, where are we going? Are we just going to keep seeing each other at this level of intimacy? Are we heading toward marriage? Toward children? Toward a lifetime together?Am I ready for that level of commitment? Do I really even know this person?

And Fred is thinking: ...so that means it was... let's see... February when we started going out, which was right after I had the car at the dealer's, which means...lemme' check the odometer...Whoa! I am way overdue for an oil change here.

And Martha is thinking: He's upset. I can see it on his face. Maybe I'm reading this completely wrong. Maybe he wants more from our relationship, more intimacy, more commitment; maybe he has sensed -even before I sensed it - that I was feeling some reservations. Yes, I bet that's it. That's why he's so reluctant to say anything about his own feelings. He's afraid of being rejected.

And Fred is thinking: And I'm gonna have them look at the transmission again. I don't care what those morons say, it's still not shifting right. And they better not try to blame it on the cold weather this time. What cold weather? It's 87 degrees out, and this thing is shifting like a garbage truck, and I paid those incompetent thieves $600.

And Martha is thinking: He's angry. And I don't blame him. I'd be angry, too. I feel so guilty, putting him through this, but I can't help the way I feel. I'm just not sure.

And Fred is thinking: They'll probably say it's only a 90-day warranty...scum balls.

And Martha is thinking: Maybe I'm just too idealistic, waiting for a knight to come riding up on his white horse, when I'm sitting right next to a perfectly good person, a person I enjoy being with, a person I truly do care about, a person who seems to truly care about me. A person who is in pain because of my self-centered, schoolgirl romantic fantasy.

And Fred is thinking: Warranty? They want a warranty? I'll give them a warranty. I'll take their warranty and stick it right up their...

"Fred," Martha says aloud.

"What?" says Fred, startled.

"Please don't torture yourself like this," she says, her eyes beginning to brim with tears. "Maybe I should never have...oh dear, I feel so..."(She breaks down, sobbing.)

"What?" says Fred.

"I'm such a fool," Martha sobs. "I mean, I know there's no knight. I really know that. It's silly. There's no knight, and there's no horse."

"There's no horse?" says Fred.

"You think I'm a fool, don't you?" Martha says.

"No!" says Fred, glad to finally know the correct answer.

"It's just that...it's that I...I need some time," Martha says.

(There is a 15-second pause while Fred, thinking as fast as he can, tries to come up with a safe response. Finally he comes up with one that he thinks might work.)

"Yes," he says. (Martha, deeply moved, touches his hand.)

"Oh, Fred, do you really feel that way?" she says.

"What way?" says Fred.

"That way about time," says Martha.

"Oh," says Fred. "Yes."

(Martha turns to face him and gazes deeply into his eyes, causing him to become very nervous about what she might say next, especially if it involves a horse. At last she speaks.)

"Thank you, Fred," she says."Thank you," says Fred.

Then he takes her home, and she lies on her bed, a conflicted, tortured soul, and weeps until dawn, whereas when Fred gets back to his place, he opens a bag of Doritos, turns on the TV, and immediately becomes deeply involved in a rerun of a college basketball game between two South Dakota junior colleges that he has never heard of. A tiny voice in the far recesses of his mind tells him that something major was going on back there in the car, but he is pretty sure there is no way he would ever understand what, and so he figures it's better if he doesn't think about it. The next day Martha will call her closest friend, or perhaps two of them, and they will talk about this situation for six straight hours. In painstaking detail, they will analyze everything she said and everything he said, going over it time and time again, exploring every word, expression, and gesture for nuances of meaning, considering every possible ramification. They will continue to discuss this subject, off and on, for weeks, maybe months, never reaching any definite conclusions, but never getting bored with it either. Meanwhile, Fred, while playing racquetball one day with a mutual friend of his and Martha's, will pause just before serving, frown, and say:

"Norm, did Martha ever own a horse?"

And that's the difference between men and women.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5152921877241389698" style="DISPLAY: block; I need to love.Life is too short, or too long, for me to allow myself the luxury of living it so badly. But hey, is it really necessary to share to that person the love that you feel for him?Original sin wasn't the apple that Eve ate, it was her belief that Adam needed to share precisely the thing she had tasted. Eve was afraid to follow her path without someone to help her, and so she wanted to share what she was feeling… Certain things can't be shared. Nor can we be afraid of the oceans into which we plunge of our own free will; fear cramps everyone's style. Woman goes through hell in order to understand this. Love one another, but let's not try to possess one another. In the beginning, everything was love. But then the serpent told Eve: WHAT YOU SURRENDERED, YOU WILL LOSE. That is how it was with me- I was driven out of paradise, and ever since then, I've been trying to find a way of telling the serpent he was wrong, that living was more important than keeping things to yourself. But the serpent was right and I was wrong.I'd loved a man who sat beside me then, because I do not possess him, and he doesn't possess me. I am free in my own mutual surrender; I need to repeat this dozens, hundreds, millions of times, til I finally believe my own words, but it won't make any sense at all. No, not at all.In all the languages in the world, there is the same proverb: "what the eyes don't see, doesn't grieve over." Well, I say that there isn't an ounce of truth in it. The further off that guy is, the closer to the heart are all those feelings that we try to repress and forget. If we're in exile, we want to store away every tiny memory of our roots. If we're far from the person we love, everyone we pass in the street reminds us of them… so much things that reminds me of him, and my heart has grieved so much, that today, I'm leaving. As I passed all the bright city lights as I go home, I spent my time in the car thinking that there's still life, that that solitude will somehow, be over. So I contemplated then after I while, I found myself already inside my room, cleaning my dirts, bathing, then I took my filler's binder and removed all the frustrating letters for Boy-tenga,,, after doing such things, I let a deep breath, close my eyes and pray for a while, then I CUT MY HAIR!!! Yes! I really cut my hair and tied it on my letters for boy tenga, then I slid it to a box, and I wrote a phrase on a box and it goe like this, "SCARS REMINDS US THAT THE PAST WAS REAL." Yeah! I'm kinda out of my mind to write things like that, although im not turning to a sour grape! Yes, I'm really done. I am finished, when I already said goodbye, I really mean it! But what's so strange about it, is that??? What?? I don't really know! I got all the answers that I'm searching for, and I my final open letter had already been posted, so what's this strange thing bugging me? Well maybe, it's just the beginning of my new life.My friends are all right. My ex-boyfriends are all right… they are saying exactly the same thing, "Let go of the past, and then the past will let go of you and set you free." And so I did, I feel better. No, actually, I feel great. Finally, no more crying nights, no more bitterness, no more frustrating melodies, no more heart-breaking dramas, no more unglorified story, no more killing loneliness, no more grievous lines, no more sickening dilemmas, no more insecurities, no more jealousies, no more guessing games, and no more broken smiles."I guess I'm just a child, don't know why the world is very wide. Someday, we will make a brighter day better than our yesterdays."Now, I'm about to shake it off, show my special kind of something and let those f*ckin d*rn good-lookin' rich lads know that my hips don't lie. So here we go,…

I LOVE U, You can be interesting. Interesting topics of conversation needn't be difficult to come think of. Think about this - what makes a topic interesting? Isn't it that people like to talk about it and that they have opinions on it?

Once you realize that, you'll see that for interesting topics of conversation come from everyday life and things that we all have in common. Then you'll realize it's not so difficult to think of them.

Don't think you have to be controversial and go for risky topics like politics and religion; you don't. In fact, to do so would be a mistake.

Whatever topic you choose should make people relaxed and happy to talk; controversial subjects don't do that. Think instead about what all people share: families, hopes, dreams, experiences etc.

Here are a few interesting topics of conversation to get you started:

1. Who is the most interesting person you ever met? You can see how this would easily lead people to voice opinions and ask 'why?'.

2. Where in the world would you most like to visit? This dream location may be shared by others and so it makes people feel solidarity, but also, people will be itching to ask 'why?' and keep the conversation flowing.

3. What has been the most life-changing experience you've ever had? Here, people can share funny and touching stories if they want to, which will help you get a deeper understanding of them. Likewise, if people don't feel relaxed enough to give a heart-felt reply they can answer in a funny way and it all adds to the conversation.

4. What is the most spontaneous thing you've you ever done? That opens the door to all sorts of funny and romantic stories.

5. Who's had the biggest influence on your life? Because this person has influenced the person you're asking, they must view them positively and have strong ideas about them. That means they're likely to enjoy talking about them.

6. What thing that you haven't yet done would you most like to do? This kind of inspirational question always gets people talking and everyone's usually happy to chip in with comments about people's hopes and wishes. Just be careful when commenting that you don't rain on their parade. It's their right to have whatever hopes they want.

7. What is the best quality you've inherited from either of your parents? This is particularly interesting at a family gathering when people know the parents you're talking about. It's also a bit of a bonding experience, speaking favorably about your parents.

8. From which person have you learned most in your life? This is another uplifting, positive topic of conversation that usually gets people talking.

9. What historical figure do you most identify with? This lets you know something about the other people around you; it also opens up discussion of the events these historical figures were involved in. Yes, potentially it takes you into dangerous waters of politics and religion but people usually take this question in the spirit of fun in which it's meant, so potentially awkward moments are easily averted.

10. What kind of music do you like? You could then go on to talk of CDs you've bought or gigs you've been too. You might even ask - 'what's the most embarrassing album in your collection?' That's usually met with all-round hilarity!

These ideas should show you that interesting topics of conversation don't need to be complex or intellectual - in fact, the more ordinary the better, because then people feel qualified to talk about the topic.

> thought <

" Sometimes we get senile enough to be sane... pardon my bluntness... Their images creep into our subconscious and change the way we feel about the dark corners of our lives. Everyone has their own top 10 films that scared them the most. Here is mine. They all succeed, in their own ways, of affecting the audience on a deeply psychological level. Consider these 10, in no particular order, and see if you agree.

1) The Exorcist

Director William Friedkin had the formidable task of translating William Peter Blatty's novel to the screen, and succeeded with flying colors - mostly a sickening green. The film maintains its suspense without getting campy and with its judicious use of startling special effects. The recent re-release with restored footage and enhanced effects make it even better. This is arguably the most frightening film of all time, due in no small part to the claim that it was based on true events.

Creepiest scene: Walking down the upstairs hallway toward the bedroom where the demon waits.

2) The Haunting (1963)

Forget the dumb 1999 remake, the original, directed by Robert Wise in 1966, is the truly scary one. Julie Harris effectively portrays the innocent and unstable Eleanor who, along with others, are induced to stay one night in an old mansion that is reputed to be haunted. And indeed it is. The special effects are understated, but stick with you.

Creepiest scene: Something's pounding on Eleanor's door and she asks roommate Theo to stop squeezing her had so tightly... but Theo is across the room!

3) Jacob's Ladder

Jacob Singer (Tim Robbins) is a Vietnam vet who seems to be profoundly affected by his nightmarish war experiences. Is it because of some Army experiments? Is Jacob going insane? Or is something else going on? There seem to be demons everywhere, and Jacob doesn't know who to trust. This remarkable film takes us into Jacob's nightmare and we, like him, are kept wondering what is real and what isn't.

Creepiest scene: Jacob is on the subway, about to step off the train. He looks down at an ordinary-looking passenger sitting near the door. Was that a tail curling beneath the passenger?

4) Poltergeist
This is still one of the best ghost stories ever made. The film takes the safety and ordinariness of the American suburb and turns it into a house of horrors. And it all begins with some strange and amusing poltergeist activity in a young family's home, and gets serious when five-year-old Carol Anne disappears. A team of paranormal investigators is called in, but it's a task none of them are quite prepared for.

Creepiest scene: A psychic, describing the circumstances of the missing little girl, informs her parents that there are many arms about her, including those of an evil presence... "to her it is just another child, but to us it is... the beast."

5) The Sixth Sense
Nine-year-old Cole Sear (Haley Joel Osment) always seems disturbed, frightened... and his mother cannot figure out why. He finally confesses to psychiatrist Malcolm Crowe (Bruce Willis) that it's because he sees dead people - everywhere... and they're not always pleasant to look at. Director M. Night Shy Malan is leading the way in bringing back good old-fashioned scary movies in the "Twilight Zone" tradition, without an over-reliance on special effects. The film is cleverly constructed and provides a truly surprising twist at the end.

Creepiest scene: Cole has built his own protective tent in his room, but as he approaches it, he knows there might be the ghost of a young girl in there.

6) Rosemary's Baby

Made in 1968 by Roman Polanski, Rosemary's Baby is still creepy on a number of levels: its theme song, Mia Farrow's terrific, neurotic performance, the Dakota apartment building, Ruth Gordon's quirky and funny character, and even a room full of old, naked Satan worshipers. Although she doesn't know it, Rosemary (Farrow) has been chosen by a New York-based coven to be the mother of the Devil himself. But once she suspects that the unthinkable might be true, who's going to believe her?

Creepiest scene: Rosemary's dream sequence.

7) The Omen

This is one of the first films to take on the subject of The Antichrist as a living person in our time - and in this case, in the form of a small boy, Damien. A switch at birth places the boy (born of a jackal) in the home of the American ambassador to Great Britain (Gregory Peck, who is always great), and therefore in a position to assume future world power. The boy himself, although capable of some unnerving leers, is rather harmless, but the people and forces at work to protect him will stop at nothing.

Creepiest scene: It's Damien's birthday party, and his nanny decides to prove her loyalty to him by hanging herself from the roof.

8) The Innocents

Based on Henry James novel "The Turn of the Screw," this 1961 film is a subtle, thriller/ghost story that slowly draws you into its creepy world in Victorian England. Deborah Kerr stars as a governess who is hired to care for an orphaned boy and girl, and soon enough the happy household becomes the setting for strange goings-on. The governess begins to see things - ghosts? - And then learns of the horrible secret past of the house and how it might be affecting - even possessing - the children.

9) Psycho

Don't make the mistake of getting the lame 1998 remake of this classic. Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 black-and-white thriller is still the one to see: the performances, the direction and the photography are all far superior. And no one, of course, can possibly match Anthony Perkins' amazing, subtle and creepy performance as Norman Bates. Hitchcock shot the film on a shoestring budget and with no elaborate special effects to speak of - just atmosphere and character. Just about everything about this film is memorable, from the title design to the indelible score by Bernard Herrmann.

Creepiest scene: No, not the shower scene - Norman Bates having a nervous conversation with Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) in the company of all those stuffed birds.

10) The Shining

Stanley Kubrick wanted to make the definitive horror film from Stephen King's novel, and although it doesn't quite measure up to that ambition, it has its share of shocks, scares and memorably creepy images. On first viewing, Jack Nicholson might be accused of going berserk in the overacting department, but upon subsequent viewings and later reflection, it's a performance that gets under your skin and sticks with you. Parts of the plot are hokey and Shelly Duvall is dreadful, but there's something about this movie that makes you want to watch it time and again.

Creepiest scene: The ghosts of those twin girls in the hallway.

Top 10 most mysterious creatures

Hairy hominids, serpentine beasts, and beings even more bizarre and inexplicable have been seen around the world for centuries. Here are 10 mystifying creatures that science has yet to explain. There are creatures that lurk out there in the dark, that haunt the isolated forests of the world, which hide in the icy depths of the deepest lakes. They appear unexpectedly and inexplicably, then vanish just as mysteriously, usually leaving witnesses dumbfounded, frightened and, unfortunately in most cases, without a shred of evidence. Yet the eyewitness stories of these creatures persist, haunting the darkness as well as our imaginations. Here, for your consideration (and in no particular order) are the top 10 most mysterious, unexplained creatures of all time. Some are more likely to really exist than others, but we'll leave that judgment up to you.

1। Bigfoot / Sasquatch / Yeti

These hairy ape men are probably the most consistently witnessed unknown creatures in the world। Whether they are called Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, Skunk Ape or Yowie, they have been seen in isolated woodlands and mountain areas in virtually every corner of the globe। And the descriptions - from the North American northwest to Florida to Australia - are remarkably consistent:

• taller than an average man (seven to eight feet)
• covered with long brown or auburn hair (or white hair in the case of the Yeti)
• a strong, repugnant odor
• large feet, as evidenced by castings of footprints
• an aversion to man
• a piercing, eerie howl

The vast number of sightings, many by highly reliable witnesses, gives Bigfoot, in my estimation, the best likelihood of being a real creature as yet unknown to science। But what is it? A missing link? Some ancient relative of humans that somehow has survived in the wilderness? An unknown species of ape? We may find out someday soon. Sightings seem to be on the increase as mankind encroaches deeper and deeper on the wilderness. And technology may aid in the search. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization recently announced its intention to place motion-triggered digital webcams in various areas of US forest where the hairy beast has been seen. This 24-hour surveillance with potentially thousands of computer-based witnesses looking on will dramatically increase the chances of obtaining credible evidence. For the diehard skeptic, nothing less than a captured specimen will do - or at least some other tangible evidence. And one that could qualify has recently emerged: an impression of Bigfoot's butt. No kidding. Researchers in the American northwest have found what appears to be the impression in the ground of where a large hairy primate has sat. Hey, he's got to rest those big feet sometime.

2। Loch Ness Monster (and other Lake monsters)

Despite excellent expeditions with sophisticated electronic equipment, the lake monsters of the world continue to elude scientists। Yet spontaneous sightings by good witnesses, although rare, persist। Lake Erie is also said to be home to a Nessie-like monster। The locals call her "Bessie"

The Loch Ness monster, or Nessie, is undoubtedly the most well-known of these aquatic mysteries। But other deep, cold lakes around the world have their own legendary beasts: Chessie in Chesapeake Bay, Storsie in Sweden's Lake Storsjön, Selma in Norway's Lake Seljordsvatnet and "Champ" in New York's Lake Champlain among others। Descriptions of this creature, too, are amazingly similar:

• a large creature with a long neck
• a horse-like head
• a humped back

Most sightings report the humps protruding from the surface of the water (which skeptics dismiss as being almost anything, from schools of fish to floating logs), but occasionally a lucky witness will see the creature stretch its neck high above the water and look around a bit before submerging। Photo and video evidence is rare. And although some of the photos are tantalizing (most notably the famous "flipper" photo taken by the Rines expedition in 1975), most such "proof" is fuzzy or inconclusive at best. If the creature does exist, many researchers suspect that it could be a kind of plesiosaur - an animal from the age of the dinosaurs that is thought to have become extinct more than 66 million years ago. Could a lineage of these incredible creatures possibly have survived?

3. Chupacabra

Even though some sightings date back to the 1970s, El Chupacabra - "the goat sucker" - is primarily a phenomenon of the 1990s, and its fame has largely been spread by the Internet। The sightings started in earnest in 1995 with reports coming out of Puerto Rico of a strange creature that was killing farmers' livestock - chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits and, of course, goats - sometimes hundreds of animals in one

The farmers, who were familiar with the killing practices of wild dogs and other predators, claimed that the methods of this unknown beast were different। It didn't try to eat the animals it killed, for example; nor did it drag them away to be devoured elsewhere. Instead, the creature killed by draining its victims of blood, usually through small incisions. Then came the bizarre eyewitness descriptions:

• about the size of a chimpanzee
• hops about like a kangaroo
• large glowing red eyes
• grayish skin and hairy arms
• long snake-like tongue
• sharp fangs
• quills running along its spine that seem to open and close like a fan
• some believe it may even have wings

Some witnesses actually claim to have seen Chupacabra fly! । Toward the end of the '90s, the sightings of Chupacabra began to spread. The creature was blamed for animal killings in Mexico, southern Texas and several South American countries. In May and June of 2000, a rash of incidents took place in Chile, according to certain newspapers there. In fact, some of the most incredible claims yet came out of those sightings: that at least one of the creatures was caught alive by local authorities, and then handed over to official agencies of the US government. What is it?

Theories abound, including: an unknown but natural species of predator; misidentified known predators; the result of genetic experimentation; an alien। Most serious researchers consider Chupacabra merely folklore, perpetuated by over-enthusiastic locals immersed in superstition or a penchant for telling tall, exaggerated tales. Yet you can be sure that we haven't seen or heard the last of Chupacabra.

4. The Jersey Devil

There is a terrifying creature, they say, that haunts the dense pine barrens of New Jersey, and its frightening appearance earned it the name of The Jersey Devil. The legend of the Jersey Devil dates back to about the mid-1700s when it was considered an omen of disaster or war, but multiple sightings did not begin until the early 1900s. Some researchers claim that more than 2,000 witnesses have reported seeing the creature over the centuries. Although rare, sightings continue up to the present day.

The Jersey Devils hockey team was named after the legendary beast. Descriptions vary, but these are the most commonly cited attributes:

• about three-and-a-half feet high
• a head like a collie dog and a face like a horse
• a long neck
• wings about two feet long
• back legs like those of a crane
• horse's hooves
• walks on its back legs and holds up two short front legs with paws on them

It's interesting to note the similarities to Chupacabra! Unexplained animal deaths and mutilations have been blamed on The Jersey Devil. Dozens of eyewitnesses claim to have been frightened out of their wits by it. What could this creature possibly be? The theories are similar to those cited for Chupacabra, but something scary definitely seems to be out there in the New Jersey woods.

5. Mothman

For about 13 months beginning in November, 1966, a series of bizarre sightings took place around the area of Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Aside from a spate of UFO reports and claimed poltergeist activity, several witnesses came forward with descriptions of an astonishing creature that may have been the focal point of all the weird goings-on. As detailed in John Keel's classic book, The Mothman Prophecies, hundreds of witnesses allegedly saw a large, winged humanoid being. Here is how they described it:

• approximately seven feet tall
• a wingspan over 10 feet wide
• gray, scaly skin
• large, red, glowing and hypnotic eyes
• able to take off straight up in flight, traveling up to 100 miles an hour
• liked to mutilate or eat large dogs
• screeched or squealed like a rodent or electric motor
• caused radio and television interference
• Had some mind control powers

Dubbed Mothman by a local newspaperman, the creature seemed to have a peculiar affect on those with whom it came into contact: they began to "channel" information from what Keel called "ultra-terrestrial" entities. Keel himself was affected in this way, receiving "prophecies" from some unknown origin that were, more often than not, oddly less than accurate. Weird stuff indeed. Weird enough for Hollywood, it seems.

A film production company recently announced that a movie version of The Mothman Prophecies is in the works, with Richard Gere heading the cast. It's a project sure to perpetuate the Mothman legend for many years to come.

6. Elves and Fairies

There aren't many people who take seriously the existence of elves and fairies in today's society. Yet there are people who will swear on the heads of their grandchildren that they have seen them with their own eyes - just as plainly as others have seen ghosts, Bigfoot or the Loch Ness monster. One of the most famous paranormal hoaxes of all time is the case of The Cottingley fairies. Cousins Frances and Elsie Wright claimed they had befriended several fairies. As proof they produced several photographs of themselves with the tiny creatures, and created a sensation in the western world. The hoax even fooled Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the Sherlock Holmes novels. The stories of elusive little people are as ancient as civilization itself and can be found in virtually every culture on Earth.

Most familiar to us are the legends of elves, dwarfs, leprechauns and trolls from Europe and Scandinavia. They have been the subject of dozens of children's fairy tales, books, myths and inebriated tales. William Shakespeare made them central characters in "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

• Generally, fairies were described as tiny ephemeral beings with wings who resided in forests.
• Elves, dwarfs and leprechauns were likewise residents of the forest.

Unlike fairies, however, they were quite human in appearance - except for their diminutive size. They were often pictured as having their own miniature civilization, hidden away from the human world. On a summer night in 1919, 13-year-old Harry Anderson claimed to have seen a column of 20 little men marching in single file, made visible by the bright moonlight. He noted they were dressed in leather knee pants with suspenders. The men were shirtless, bald and had pale white skin. They ignored young Harry as they passed, mumbling something unintelligible all the while. In Stowmarket, England in 1842, a man claimed this encounter with "faries" when walking through a meadow on his journey home: "There might be a dozen of them, the biggest about three feet high, and small ones like dolls. They were moving around hand in hand in a ring; no noise came from them. They seemed light and shadowy, not like solid bodies. I... could see them as plain as I do you. I ran home and called three women to come back with me and see them. But when we got to the place, they were all gone. I was quite sober at the time."
Elves and fairies were considered quite real in past cultures, and were a familiar part of their rich folklore. In today's technological society, perhaps, we've simply replaced them in our imaginations with little gray aliens.

7. The Dover Demon

Dover, Massachusetts was the location of the sighting of a bizarre creature for a few days beginning on April 21, 1977. Although the creature, which became known as "the Dover Demon," was only seen by a few people in this short period of time, it is considered one of the most mysterious creatures of modern times. The first sighting was made by 17-year-old Bill Bartlett as he and three friends were driving north near the small New England town at around 10:30 at night.

Through the darkness, Bartlett claimed to have seen an unusual creature creeping along a low stone wall on the side of the road - something he had never seen before and could not identify. The other boys did not see it, but it was obvious to them that Bartlett was shaken by the experience. When he arrived home, he told his father about his experience and sketched a drawing of the creature. Just a few hours after Bartlett's sighting, at 12:30 a.m., John Baxter swore that he saw the same creature while walking home from his girlfriend's house. The 15-year-old boy saw it with its arms wrapped around the trunk of a tree, and his description of the thing matched Bartlett's exactly. The final sighting was reported the next day by another 15-year-old, Abby Brabham, a friend of one of Bill Bartlett's friends, who said it appeared briefly in the car's headlights while she and her friend were driving. Again, the description was consistent. This is the creature they allegedly saw:

• about four feet tall on two legs
• hairless body with rough-textured skin
• long, spindly peach-colored limbs
• a large watermelon-shaped head, nearly as big as its body
• large glowing orange eyes

Subsequent investigations into this unusual case turned up no hard evidence for the reality of the creature, but neither was there evidence of a hoax nor a motive for perpetrating one. Skeptics suggested that what the teenagers saw was a young moose, while UFOlogists who looked into the case wondered if there was an extraterrestrial connection.

8. The Loveland Lizard

This remarkable creature has earned its place in the annals of the unknown primarily because of the credibility of the involved witnesses: two police officers on two separate occasions. The scene is the early hours of March 3, 1972. A police officer is cruising on Riverside Ave., which runs for a few blocks along the Little Miami River in Loveland, Ohio.

On the side of the road he sees what he at first thinks is a dog lying there. He slows his vehicle on the icy road to avoid hitting the animal should it get up and run in front of him. He nears the animal and stops his patrol car, at which point the creature quickly stands on two legs to a crouching position. Illuminating the creature with his headlights, the officer can now clearly see that it is not a dog at all, but something he cannot explain:

• three to four feet tall
• 50 to 75 pounds
• leathery skin
• possibly wet, matted hair on its body that made it look textured
• possibly a short tail
• a head and face like a frog or lizard

Whatever this creature was, it looked at the officer briefly, then leapt over the road's guard rail toward the river. The officer reported the odd sighting to the police dispatcher, then later returned to the scene of the incident with another officer. All they found was evidence that something had scraped the hillside as it made its way down to the river. The creature may have been completely forgotten had not a second police officer seen it again two weeks later. The second officer also at first thought the thing lying in the middle of the road was a dog or road kill. When he got out of his car to haul it to the side of the road, it got up, climbed over the guard rail this time, all the while keeping its eyes on the officer, and disappeared toward the river.
His description of the creature pointed out the same frog-like characteristics. A subsequent investigation uncovered only one other possible sighting around the same time; a farmer claimed to have seen some kind of large, lizard-like creature. It thereafter became known as the Loveland Lizard or Loveland Frog. What was it? Good question. If it was a frog or similar amphibian, it's the largest one ever recorded - and the only one known to get up and walk away on its hind legs.

9. Living Dinosaurs

We were all awestruck by the incredibly realistic digital effects of Jurassic Park and The Lost World, and tantalized by the possibility that cloning of long-extinct dinosaurs might one day be possible. . While driving to work one morning in 1976, several school teachers reported a large flying creature with a 12-foot wingspan that swooped down on their cars.
Some research at the school library turned up an impossible identification: a pterosaur. But what if dinosaurs are still alive? What if some dinosaurs have somehow survived extinction to coexist with us today? Some people believe they actually might have. Living dinosaurs! For over 200 years, rare but fascinating reports have filtered out of the dense isolated rain forests of Africa and South America those native tribes - some of which live very much as they have for thousands of years - were familiar with large creatures that can only be described as resembling sauropods, like the apatosaurus. The tribes had names for them, such as jago-nini ("giant diver"), dingonek, ol-umaina, and chipekwe. In 1913, Captain Freiheer von Stein zu Lausnitz, a German explorer, was told by Pygmies of a fearsome creature they called mok'ele-mbembe ("stopper of rivers"). This is the description of mok'ele-mbembe provided by the natives:

• smooth brownish gray skin
• approximately the size of an elephant; at least that of a hippopotamus; possibly about 30 feet long
• a long, flexible neck
• a vegetarian diet, but would kill humans if they came too close

During an expedition to search for mok'ele-mbembe in 1980, cryptozoologist Roy Mackel and herpetologist James Powell allegedly showed pictures of local animals to the natives, all of which they correctly identified. When they showed them an illustration of a large sauropod, they identified it as mok'ele-mbembe. Aside from the testimony of these tribes people (which some skeptics have written off as making fools of the white man), the evidence for living dinosaurs is scant. Supposedly, a few explorers have found extraordinarily large footprints (as large as a Frisbee), and in 1992, a Japanese expedition is said to have about 15 seconds of film footage taken from an airplane that shows some large shape moving in water, leaving a V-shaped wake.
Unfortunately, it could not be identified. The most recent expedition in search of mok'ele-mbembe took place in January, 2000. The British-led Congo Millennium Expedition – or DINO2000 – explored the Likoula region of the Congo for four weeks with the official mission objective of a "scientific investigation and analysis of reports of a living dinosaur." Unfortunately, again, they returned empty-handed. That will undoubtedly not be the last expedition to search for living dinosaurs. The prospect of actually documenting a find is just too tempting.

10. Spring-Heeled Jack

He appeared out of the shadows of 19th century London nights, attacked his victims with dreadful scratches, then bounded away with superhuman ability before he could be apprehended. The case of Spring-Heeled Jack, as this creature came to be known, is one of the most baffling to come out of Victorian England, and one that has never been solved or fully explained. According to most accounts of the story, the attacks began in 1837 in southwest London.

Polly Adams, a pub worker, was one of three women accosted by Spring-Heeled Jack in September of that year. He allegedly tore her blouse off and scratched at her stomach with iron-like fingernails or claws. His victims painted a bizarre portrait of the ghoul:

• man-like, but with a hideous face
• sharp iron-like fingernails or claws
• tall, thin and powerful
• glowing eyes
• the ability to spit blue flames from his mouth
• wore a dark cloak over a tight-fitting white oilskin suit
• some claimed he wore a helmet of some kind
• the ability to jump incredible heights and distances

Some place a sighting of Jack as recent as 1904 in Liverpool, where he was seen leaping across the tops of terraced houses. . The attacks continued into early 1838, prompting official action by the Lord Mayor of London who declared him a public nuisance, and resulting in at least one vigilante group that systematically tried to capture the creature, all without success. Rumors of sightings persisted into the 1850s, '60s and '70s.

In these cases, he is said to have frightened people with his appearance, slapped army sentries, and in each case leapt away to the astonishment and frustration of those who tied to catch him. Interestingly, Spring-Heeled Jack never killed or seriously hurt anyone, except 18-year-old Lucy Scales who was reportedly blinded temporarily by the searing blue flames Jack vomited into her face. Who or what was Spring-Heeled Jack? A clever if diabolical maniac? An alien? A demon? Chances are we will never know, and he will remain one of the most mysterious creatures of modern times.
